Melanie’s Story

Founder & Director of Hello Beautiful Style

Melanie Foster, personal stylist at Hello Beautiful Style Newcastle, wearing her best colours—including a vibrant green jacket and matching shades—after her own colour analysis, shown alongside before photos.

I believe passionately that every business should have a heartbeat—the primary reason behind why we “do what we do”.

My journey into personal styling began with a love for colour, shapes, and especially vintage fashion. I was never one to follow the latest high street trends; instead, I found joy in expressing myself through unique pieces that reflected who I was. But life took a different turn for me when I became a young mum at just 19. By the age of 30, I’d had five children and, like so many mums, I spent my twenties putting everyone else’s needs before my own. Colour and style faded into the background as I focused on my family.

When my youngest daughter started school, I suddenly realised how much of myself I’d lost—not just my passion and zest for life, but even my sense of identity in my wardrobe. I felt adrift, no longer recognising the confident, colourful person I once was. Something had to change. That’s when I began a journey of inner reflection and outward transformation, starting with the clothes I wore.

After five pregnancies, my body had changed—even though I was still slim, nothing fit quite the same. My go-to jeans and tracksuit bottoms no longer felt right, and I had no idea how to fix it. Training as a Personal Stylist and Colour Analyst was a turning point. I learned how to work with my new shape, understand what colours brought me to life, and rebuild a wardrobe I genuinely LOVED.

Through this process, I developed a true passion—and a heart—for women who, like me, feel lost or a little hopeless in themselves.

The link between inner and outer confidence is complex, but I’m constantly amazed by the difference even a few style adjustments can make to our self-perception. The more clients I work with, the more I see this truth in action.

Although I work with both men and women, supporting women will always be at the heart of what I do. As women, our bodies and lives shift through so many stages—from puberty, to motherhood, menopause, and beyond. Each phase calls for a new version of ourselves to emerge. Knowing which colours and styles suit you through each change can help you feel confident and truly yourself, no matter what life brings.

Our Vision

At Hello Beautiful Style, we’re committed to being as ethical as possible in a world that, let’s face it, is far from perfect. We know we may never achieve perfection, but our promise is to keep learning, growing, and striving for excellence in every part of our business.

People are at the heart of everything we do.
This heartbeat runs through how we value—and pay—our team, which is a cornerstone of our ethical approach. We’re dedicated to fair pay and creating a supportive work environment, because we believe excellence starts with people who feel valued.

We also focus on creating products that truly work for our clients, partnering with real people and small businesses whenever possible. We aim to keep our prices reasonable, while never compromising on quality. That means choosing quality materials and avoiding the trap of fast fashion, even when it’s a challenge to balance affordability, environmental concerns, and ethical production.

Sometimes, finding factories and suppliers that align with our values is difficult. But our priorities remain clear:

  • Product quality

  • Client experience and satisfaction

  • Treating our staff well—in both value and pay

We’re not perfect, but we’re committed to progress. Our desire is to build a brand where ethics, quality, and people always come first.
